MAGICAL JOURNEYS for Preschoolers ~ Post by Susan Scott

Magical Journey's actors took a trip to Mr. McGregor's garden last week.  They listened to "The Tale of Peter Rabbit" by Beatrix Potter and enjoyed ever so much the story and illustrations.  The actors especially liked playing the roles of Mrs. Rabbit and Mr. McGregor.   What a surprise no one wanted to be "Peter", the naughty rabbit who disobeyed his mother.  Miss Susan and Miss Chloe had fun being the mischievous Peter.  All good bunnys had a snack of delicious carrots.

FINE ARTS INSTITUTE IS NOT JUST FOR KIDS!

“Even though hundreds of children are in and out of our front doors each week, the Fine Arts Institute of Edmond has a variety of art classes for teens and adults,” states Mitzi Hancuff, Executive Director. “We’re not just for kids!”

Fall adult classes begin in early September. From drawing, painting classes (oil, watercolor, acrylic) to clay and pottery, The Artist’s Way (a path to higher creativity) and jewelry designing there are art opportunities for all ages and all stages. The Institute teachers work one-on-one with students during classes to help with individual development. The Institute facility at 27 E. Edwards has a creative atmosphere in a friendly environment for adults to hone their art skills.

“Whether an adult took art in school and wants to pick it up again or someone wants a first time experience drawing or painting, the Fine Arts Institute is the place to go,” Hancuff states. “A mother who joined a painting class said her art class was the only thing she did for her all week long.” Recently a 93 year old woman took a watercolor class at the FAI.

Fine Arts Institute faculty members teaching adult classes are: Gary Lennon, an award winning artist with award winning students who loves to paint murals; Dianne McMahon, experienced potter, artist and teacher; Leslie Lienau, respected Oklahoma artist who studied at the Ecole Albert de Fois in France; Stephanie Carel, jewelry designer; Mary Lou Moad, a licensed art therapist and Mary Lou Gresham, noted Edmond sculptor.

Adult classes are year round and affordable. Brochures can be picked up at 27 E. Edwards or information is available on the web at www.edmondfinearts.com. For information, call 405-340-4481.
